Nu Shu Pots by Pati

| These
pots are part of Pati's "Celebration of Women" series.
Many years ago, the women near Hunan Province, China were not
allowed to learn to read and write. They developed their own
language in order to communicate with each other. Their
language was called Nu Shu. It was discovered in 1950, but was
not recorded until 1982. As a tribute to these women, Pati has
designed pots with the traditional Chinese language on one side and
Nu Shu on the other. Look under the pot for the word or phrase
in English. She has chosen the work or phrase to match the
pot's shape and no two pots are alike. It is inspiring to know
that these women went to such lengths to communicate with each
other...they are to be celebrated!
